A new beehive at Lepiku-Mardi Talu Kollektsioonaed

Updated: Mar 19

I’ve placed a beehive at Lepiku-Mardi Talu Kollektsioonaed (https://www.kollektsioonaed.ee/), and it’s a decision rooted in the location’s unique strengths. This 3-hectare private garden in Estonia, just 26 km from Pärnu, boasts over 5,000 varieties of perennials, grasses, bulbs, and ferns. With such floral diversity—featuring trilliums, primroses, and alpine plants—it’s a paradise for bees, offering a steady supply of nectar and pollen from spring through autumn.

The garden’s rural setting, with its mix of sun and shade, fertile soil, and minimal disturbance, creates a natural sanctuary for a thriving bee colony. By adding a beehive, I’ve enhanced the ecosystem, boosting pollination for the rare and cherished plants, like those surrounding the 200-300-year-old oak. It’s a perfect fit for a family-run haven dedicated to nature’s beauty.

Beyond ecology, the beehive adds an educational layer for visitors who wander the garden from April to October. It showcases sustainable living amid a collection of unique trees and shrubs. I’ve chosen this spot because it aligns with the garden’s spirit—nurturing biodiversity and sharing nature’s wonders—while ensuring the bees flourish in an abundant, peaceful home.

Our honey is also available to buy at this location. We will also be introducing our Lepiku-Mardi Talu edition of honey, where our bees have made honey from the resources of the gardens flowers. This edition will be available only at Lepiku-Mardi Talu!
